PORTRAIT DE MADAME ET SON CHAT

Eau de Parfum

François Boucher’s flushed and suggestive L’Odalisque is Miskeo’s inspiration for Portrait de Madame et Son Chat, a painting of overt sensuality, blushing skin and voluptuous indolence. Powder blues, silks flowing like water around a satiated nude on a chaise longue, a piece of furniture that seems designed purely for come hither posturing. L’Odalisque is swathed in costly fabrics, textures contrasting against the aroused pink of her skin and a choker of exquisite pearls.

Portrait de Madame et Son Chat is a beautiful and beguiling perfume, a study in fleshy enigma and muted boudoir ambience. Sevres blue, Pompadour pink, dove grey and buttercup yellow are the hues served up in swooning perfumed deshabille. As is often seen in Rococo art, the rooms and furniture are more dressed than the skin and bodies of the women.

This portrait is one deliberate effect and undertones of pearlescent exhibitionism. A fur accord is the purring Persian cat beneath the hand, musks evoke the fabric strewn room and chill of pearls that need body heat to give them heat. An unexpected note of toasted corn chips seems anomalous but is in fact pitch perfect, bringing a delicious warm, gourmand skin tone to the mix. A gentle undulation of amber floats up as the scent opens, suggesting a dreamy informality beneath the rigidity of societal norms.

Portrait de Madame et Son Chat is fascinating, a plush melange of delicate materials made tender by its stylish exploration of the tensions between the studied frivolity of rococo, whilst not ignoring the deliberate loosening of bodices as flesh becomes weapon and decoration.
