Inkcense Musky Moonlight is technically a flanker to Inkcense but is in fact much more: a revisualisation of Voelkl's beautiful original scent for Aromag that mirrors the original while darkening it. The heightened verdancy provided by a dose of balmy terpenes, sap and cardamom infused frankincense shifts the composition into shadow.
The suggestion of prickly pine needles is soothed by a bruised lavender note, reminiscent of fingers rubbing purple-blue flowers in a sultry garden. The more muscular musks add body, while the smoky rendering is bolstered by elemi resin and the tactile vegetal leather tone of labdanum.
Though there is no obvious ink in the list of ingredients, the onyx moonlight implication hangs over the perfume like the aftermath of an extinguished candle. Voelkl has lovingly mirrored his original Inkcense adding an arboreal emerald vibe, suggesting enough darkness to complement his key Inkcense composition.
