Eau de Parfum
It is fitting that the earliest perfume launched by Aromag was Inkcense, because no other fragrance in the collection embodies the house philosophy so purely: scent as ink, skin as paper, the liubai concept made wearable.
Created by Frank Voelkl, the talented nose responsible for olfactive hits such as You for Glossier and the ubiquitous Santal 33 for Le Labo, which for a while seemed like the signature scent of London, Inkcense is a delicate masterpiece, a perfume of scented washes, negative space and aesthetic balance.
Liubai is an integral concept of eastern art, especially Chinese painting, essentially concerned with the deliberate leaving of space in compositional terms, recognising the importance of blankness. Inkcense is a perfumed manifestation of this atramental fumy concept on an aquatic wash across the palest of papery musks and gentle amber.
Scent as ink, skin as paper. The imprint of kumquat sweetens the top notes but it is the elegant bleed of smoke and Voelkl's perfectly calibrated ink accord that illuminates the skin beneath the material body of Inkcense, intermittent pigments, hushed and moreish. The transparency is sublime, wearing Inkcense is like the most precious calligraphy, soothing words flowing over the body.

The ingredients marked with an asterisk are natural materials. SFE stands for Super Fluid Extraction, indicating that the natural ingredients are extracted using supercritical fluid extraction technology, which is more environmentally friendly. The White Musk in this perfume is an exclusive musk molecule from Firmenich, making the musk scent soft and translucent, akin to the impression of ink on rice paper.
