Frisson D’Hiver, or Thrill of Winter, opens coldly with a dramatic whoosh of unexpected acerbic frost adorning citrus orchards. A snap frost that glitters in early morning sun.
This is not a winter perfume however, it smells of transition, the beautiful starkness of winter, segueing into the burgeoning brighter low-light of spring. Accompanied by the inevitable thaw of soil and water, foliage craves sunlight and trees adorn themselves in green. Plants, sleepy with chlorophyll dreams unfurl.
The buzzy sensuality of orange blossom illuminates a heart rich with lily of the valley, rose and jasmine. The ice accord that opened Frisson D’Hiver melts away and the flowers revel in resins, vanilla and a skyful of white musks.
It is the movement of glacial suspension to solar glow that makes this clever composition such a joy to wear.
