Nostos
Nostos is a New York-based fragrance house founded by Jackie Mayol, built on a single conviction: that memory has a smell, and that smell can bring you home.
The word "nostos" comes from the Greek for homecoming, the same root that gives us nostalgia. Mayol describes herself as a nostalgia addict, someone for whom the inability to relive a memory is almost physically painful. Fragrance became her way back in. She presents hyper-specific memory concepts to perfumer Marissa Zappas, who translates them into wearable compositions that capture not just the scent of a moment but its emotional weather: the sweetness and sadness of remembrance dancing together.
