Aromag is a contemporary fragrance house rooted in Chinese cultural tradition, where scent was once shaped by scholars rather than commerce. Its name combines “aroma” and “magazine”, reflecting a vision of perfume as both sensory experience and intellectual exploration.

The brand’s Chinese name, 岩兰, refers to both vetiver and the image of an orchid growing among rocks, a quiet emblem of resilience, balance and natural elegance. This philosophy carries through its compositions, which favour restraint, negative space and a composed structure over overt density.

Aromag’s debut fragrance, Inkcense, draws on the tradition of Chinese ink and ink wash painting, translating texture, fluidity and tonal contrast into scent. Created by Frank Voelkl, it went on to receive the Fragrance Development Award at the Vogue C-Beauty Awards.

Working with a roster of leading perfumers including Dominique Ropion, Olivier Cresp, Carlos Benaïm and Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Aromag explores a distinctly Eastern approach to perfumery that privileges atmosphere, balance and material nuance.
