Frassaï has been a brand close to my heart since 2019 when I blind-bought a bottle of A Fuego Lento. I mean, a simmering, animalic jasmine composed by none other than the king of white florals himself, Rodrigo Flores Roux? Take my money immediately. I also bought the discovery set and immediately regretted not purchasing every fragrance in the lineup.
Frassaï to me is a collection of perfumes for grown-ups that doesn't need the inclusion of any ironic notes to perform creativity. The creativity is there in a unique assortment of materials that balances novelty with chic restraint. But more importantly, the Frassaï fragrances are works that fit into my life.
One of the curious things about working as a fragrance retailer is that I often lose access to my own skin because I'm constantly evaluating perfumes I'm considering stocking. Getting to wear my own perfumes that I actually love often feels like stealing away with a secret lover. But when those opportunities do arise, Frassaï is one of the most reached for brands in my personal collection.
As I mentioned the brand's latest limited editions, A Sigh of Dawn and Fraise de Nuit, Frassaï's founder and creative director, Natalia Outeda, spent years as a top evaluator, shaping works alongside many celebrated perfumers.
Over the past decade, she's built one of the most accomplished collections of perfumes in the industry. Whether she's directing widely recognised names like Ralf Schwieger or Rodrigo Flores Roux or up and coming perfumers, Frassaï's landscape is shaped by her, creating a house signature oozing with style.
Since it had been out of stock for some time, I ordered a handful of the Verano Porteño in the limited edition 100ml bottle. Verano Porteño, another Flores Roux creation, is a sunlit citrus white floral chypre inspired by Buenos Aires in the summer. I actually wore this just last week to go to a few studio viewings for Sainte Cellier. When I stepped into the very full elevator, everyone said how much they loved the smell. Sometimes perfume is also a public service.
Victoria is also back in stock. If you love tuberose, I can't recommend Victoria enough. It's named after Victoria Ocampo, iconic Argentine writer, publisher, and feminist. The fragrance blends a very full-bodied, voluptuous tuberose with juicy pink lychee and a really understated application of oud, adding a sensual chiaroscuro to the luminous white florals.
