Des Cendres is a bold, singed Dietrich leather. The green leather surface of an old writing desk, edged in decayed gold. It is a powerful statement scent that eventually mellows down, becoming more ambiguous as it does so. This perfumed interpretation of embers and cinders, bitter and blackened, is full of cooked tree resins, bubbling after a forest fire, oily needles releasing tarred jade aromas.

Des Cendres has some distinctive touches, namely Moroccan mint in the heart notes and the sweet hyacinthine greenness of Galbanum at the top. It is a remarkable perfume; revealing whiffs of blackened concrete and charred soft fruits. Oddly there is a stage where a bubblegum note appears only to be veiled again in the smoke. The assembly and use of materials is exemplary in this dynamic swirling composition. Made with perfect technical and emotive chutzpah by Monsieur Lie.
