During the Dutch Golden Age of flower painting, the blooms were often accompanied by symbols of mortality, rotting apples, insects, clocks, hourglasses and snuffed out candles.
Nature Morte avec Pommes is a distinctive perfume, chewy, animalic, yeasty and fruity. First impressions are puzzling, but the notes come together with wit and sensuality with hints of roasted barley, caramelised cereals, home brew cider and broken bread. Nature Morte avec Pommes smells delicately autumnal and gustatory, with threads of gold, oaken circlets and scattered ripe red apples woven in and out of an ornate table tableau with goblets of pale wine, faded blue Sèvres vessels overflowing with whole and shattered walnuts and glazed breads.

A chilled white wine note suggests chalky cellars and a hint of damp while tonka bean provides a delicate vanillic smoke counterpoint to the plush stickiness and painterly intrigue of the gourmand threads.
