FAUX ROSE
This unashamedly erotic and feminine boudoir triptych of fragrances is the work of Amelia Rose, a London-based perfumer who worked as a stylist for Vivienne Westwood. Her preoccupation with the decorative details and historical references of fashion and a love of vintage erotica has been channelled exquisitely into three perfumes, Dauphine, Faux Rose and Viva Maria.
Exploring themes of feminine wiles, artifice, sexuality and the beguilement of body beneath costume of alluring intent, Amelia has created a world of playful boudoir frivolity and a love of all things spangled, heart-shaped, froufrou, festooned and adorned. There is too a direct referencing of time and place, the subversive female body in all its come-hither glory and honey-trap decoration.
Fashion as adornment, message and weapon is part of the Faux Rose experience and connected to that, the revelation of the body beneath. The clothing and denuding of female flesh, courtesans, mistresses and erotic dancers, seen through a pearlescent filter, the perfumes exude a seductive, retro allure that draws you into Ameila’s world of intrigue, subversion and playful erotica.
It is a world of lipstick, paint and powder, decoration and celebration of feminine wiles. Desire and the potency of skin mix with private wants and embellished roleplaying. Toys, make-up, fabrics, lighting, scents, neon nights and hazy days. Ameila’s rosaceous world validates our hankering for erotic abandonment and dreams where you can be anything you desire.
