Eau de Parfum


天乐 (Tiānlè), the perfumer's own given name, and the name of the house itself. The signature of the collection, and the first fragrance Tianle Feng made.

There are moments when city dwellers, adrift in the chaos, cannot sleep. It is a condition that perplexed the perfumer too, consumed by the demands of a working life. In such hours, he argues, serene contemplation offers something like the strength of unconditional love.

Perfume is the bridge between the divine and the human. Through a modern lens, Feng revisits that oldest theme: in an era of constant change, calling on our innate sense of the eternal to pass through time, space and self.

The bright, high-spirited lift of aldehyde and eucalyptus collides with frankincense and labdanum, synthetic brilliance against religiously natural material. From it emerge the placid, tranquil oud and sandalwood, warm and calm, like soft light illuminating a night sky.


Hainan oud. Native to south-east China and quite distinct from the Indonesian and Bruneian eaglewood more common in oriental perfumery. Where eaglewood tends heavy and animalic, Hainan oud is lighter and more restful. Captured here by supercritical CO2 extraction.

Frankincense. From the Old French franc encens, high-quality incense. In the 11th century the maritime Silk Road between Oman and China was also known as the Maritime Frankincense Road. The Arabic al-lubán means milk, after the resin drops it resembles.
