There is an incredibly hushed private academic library in the National Portrait Gallery, whose red sandstone architecture looms over Queen Street. The sealed room is temperature controlled and access is limited. This room is like Miskeo’s Daim, green and oxblood bound books, aged leather, grasses, and mahogany.

Clary sage is not like its garden counterpart. It's a whiplash of leather and green and a huff of metallic steam. In Daim it has a soothing effect on white blooms like the tropical unfurling of frangipani, orange blossom and intoxicating jasmine sambac. Synthetic castoreum is a disturbing material, sinfully perverse yet capable of great subtlety and ambience, which works perfectly with Daim's tactile suede
