Comme un Gant literally fits the skin like a bespoke glove perhaps in fine silk or butter soft kid leather. It is a milky take on the suede/leather genre, built beautifully around an unctuous coconut and Madagascan vanilla pairing. Rather than an expected tropical vibe, the creamy body is studded with the piquancy of aromatic cardamom. Haitian vetiver in the base adds a damp grassy rootiness, imparting freshness and atmosphere to the composition.
All of the Voyages Imaginaires perfumes have a distinctive mood as a result of Camille and Isabelle’s commitment to be 100% natural, and the wheatgerm alcohol lends a silken tenderness to the perfumes on skin. It allows the coconut in Comme un Gant to develop an elegant swirling nuttiness and beautifully compliment the lacteous sandalwood in the base notes.
There is an indefinable immaculacy about Comme un Gant, a languid nod to tropical gourmand perfumes and the nostalgic aroma of holiday skin. The shift from languid, spiced coconut milk through opaque woods to a sumptuous vanilla is delicately yet assertively handled. The quiet inclusion of Haitian vetiver with its subtle touches of citrus and floral amongst the aromatic green make for a satisfying ending, both fixing and exalting the sensual fit of Comme un Gant.
