Fraise de Nuit is a strawberry fragrance for people who would never wear a strawberry fragrance. It is night-ripe, cool-skinned, lit from underneath. Where most fruit-forward compositions reach for sweetness, perfumer Marypierre Julien reaches for the earth.
The strawberry here is a natural upcycled extract: not confected or candied but fleshy, bright, and disarmingly real. It rouges the vetiver, flushing warmth and fruit across something earthy and rooted. Beneath and around it, five distinct expressions of vetiver build a landscape of smoke, soil, green root and dry wood. Five ways of saying the same word, each one a different hour of the night. The upcycled rice vanilla that also appears in its companion fragrance A Sigh of Dawn provides the warm, creamy undertow, the thread of gold in the darkness.
The olfactive profile is listed as "Nocturnal Fruit," a category that barely exists until you smell this and realise it should. Fraise de Nuit is the fragrance equivalent of walking through a city after midnight: the air still warm, the streetlamps catching something you can't quite name, the world briefly turning gold as you pass through it.
