Inkcense draws on the tradition of Chinese pine soot ink, where pine wood is burned to produce the fine smoke used to create calligraphic ink. In its most refined forms, this ink was infused with fragrant materials, transforming it from a functional medium into something sensory, tactile and deeply expressive.
Here, that material becomes the structure of the fragrance. Pine smoke and incense form the core, shaping an inky accord that moves between dry, resinous and lightly smoky tones. Woods, sandalwood, patchouli and cedar extend the composition, giving it depth and continuity, while lotus and kumquat introduce a subtle lift that keeps everything fluid.
Frankincense shifts the texture, bringing a more refined, composed quality to the woods and smoke. The composition holds its shape while remaining mobile, with a sense of movement that recalls ink spreading across paper.
Inkcense was the fragrance through which aromag defined its “Sinoriental” approach, opening a new interpretation of Eastern perfumery that balances tradition with modern construction.

The ingredients marked with an asterisk are natural materials. SFE stands for Super Fluid Extraction, indicating that the natural ingredients are extracted using supercritical fluid extraction technology, which is more environmentally friendly. The White Musk in this perfume is an exclusive musk molecule from Firmenich, making the musk scent soft and translucent, akin to the impression of ink on rice paper.
