Eau de Toilette
小珍珠 | little pearl. The perfumer's name for his daughter.
Her birth let him perceive the sparkle in the olfactory world again, and he caught that moment here. We spend a long time overwhelmed by the pallor of adulthood; in this light fragrance, all of it vaporises into a white world of innocence.
Lily of the valley, begonia and lilac are immaculate and airy, and from them rises the watery elegance of the whole. Yuzu and watermelon arrive and the thing vibrates into something lively. Milk, honey and musk give a warm, sweet undertone, and it lingers wherever it is worn.
Returning to childhood is impossible. This perfume, filled with companionship, simply lets us read the world through a child's eyes again, with goodwill.
Yuzu. Native to the Yangtze valley and carried to Japan by way of the Korean peninsula in the Nara period. It belongs to cooking rather than perfumery, and was chosen for its bittersweetness.
Haitian vetiver. In the perfumer's view the most subtle and elegant of raw materials. It sits at the heart of the base and stays understated, standing for the father's part in his daughter's life: reliable, and there.
