Nosing Around with Kaiwei Hsieh

Founded by Terrence Chen and perfumer Kaiwei Hsieh, DanLo is a Taiwanese fragrance house that translates the island’s most cherished flavours, treats and everyday rituals into scent.

In this edition of Nosing Around, perfumer Kaiwei shares the simple anchors that inform her inner world, from her eclectic reading taste to her absolute choice of silence as a source of creative comfort.

Currently reading?

"Dollars and Sense" by Dan Ariely and Jeff Kreisler and "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - I’ve been re-reading this one repeatedly over the last 30 years.

The last five songs you listened to?

I don’t listen to music; silence is what brings me comfort.

Latest film recommendation?

I cannot even remember the last movie I watched. Readily available audio visual media gives us too many choices and too little focus for appreciation.

Working on anything exciting?

Well, my brand 💙.

Smell you’re loving most at the moment?

My baby son’s ears.
