DOLIPHOR

Eau de Parfum

I created Marlou so that, from an olfactory perspective, the body could take its place in society. This implies the acceptance and even ownership of faults, of imperfections inherent to that living object which is never wholly clean. - Briac Frocrain, founder of Marlou

In many ways, all of the Marlou perfumes are preoccupied with the hidden intricacies of the human body, the begrimed, dishevelled and salacious. Pretty has no place at the Marlou table and if there are traces of it, it serves only to lure you into experiencing a more profound and unexpected world of odiferous transgression.

Doliphor is a quiet thing at the start, but probes at the senses like a tongue at a nagging tooth. The rising oddness transmutes into an off-kilter fairytale of fragrant flesh, the body fitted to fabric and leaving an imprint of exertion and decoration, hazy with laundry musks and the comforting wheaten scent given off by warm clean skin.

Like a personal manifestation of the Turin Shroud, Doliphor seems to drape exquisitely over the body and then lift slightly, allowing a light breeze to play over skin. The ingredients coalesce into a milky gauze and moist bathroom vibe of steamed mirror, damp towels, air moist with lacteous ablutions. Carrot seed adds a dusting of earthy powder with traces of costus and cumin laced through to create a subtle whiff of settling sweat and hair.

Doliphor comes together with disturbing grace, a genuinely addictive perfume, a second skin, a veiling of accumulated odours that plays with fetishist tropes while wooing mind and electric body with delicate suggestions of nuzzling worship.
