Marlou Poudrextase is the scent of intimacy. Close proximity Mona Lisa smiles and tangled limbs under blankets on days filled only with silence and stillness.

It smells of warmed rice powder on a canvas of blushed rose petals in an embrace of tonka. There’s a smudge of civet in the drydown that purrs on the skin, gentle and snug as a sleepy kitten.

I’ve always loved how the Marlou fragrances interrogate how comfortable we are within our own skin while existing within the realm of perfumery, with all of its wonderful artifice, that, especially in modern perfumery, enforces the notion that we should smell like anything but.

Within that context, the animalic smells in the Marlou perfumes becomes this topic of pearl-clutching surprise, but looking past that, there is a deeply intelligent dialogue to be explored in their olfactory renderings of skin that questions our bonds with ourselves and with others.
